In much of the world, it was <strong>an era of transition<\/strong>. The social revolutions that had previously exploded have, in some cases, come to fruition, in others they have seen a wave of ebb and flow, eventually leading to the individualism and hedonism of the 1980s. In terms of aesthetic taste and interior design, it is not easy to pigeonhole an entire decade into one style. Again, it was a transitional period: between the bold experimentation of the 1960s and the eclecticism of the 1980s; between modernism and post-modernism. However, certain characteristics can be recognised in the furniture style of the 1970s:      <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>abundant use of <strong>colour<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>palette of <strong>&lsquo;earthy&rsquo; tones;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>predilection for <strong>bold patterns<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>use of <strong>natural materials<\/strong> but also extensive use of <strong>plastic<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>combination of many <strong>different textures<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>voluminous fabrics<\/strong> (see classic long-pile carpets, so-called <em>shaggy<\/em>);<\/li>\n<li>low, elongated <strong>furniture<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>soft lines;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>more &lsquo;open&rsquo; <strong>subdivision of domestic spaces<\/strong>, encouraging sociability (see the famous <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Conversation_pit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>conversation pit<\/em><\/a>, already in vogue since the late 1950s);<\/li>\n<li>in the <strong>bathroom<\/strong>, extensive use of <strong>tiles<\/strong> (sometimes up to the ceiling) and coloured ceramic <strong>pillar toilets<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><div id=\"__langwrap\">\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"section\" data-elementor-id=\"62441\" class=\"elementor elementor-62441 Make way for natural materials such as <strong>wood<\/strong> (especially in dark tones), <strong>rattan<\/strong> and <strong>cork<\/strong>, both for furniture and upholstery. As far as <strong>metals<\/strong> are concerned, steel and brass will take centre stage. <strong>Glass<\/strong>, usually with a smoky effect, will be juxtaposed with other materials. But there is also room for <strong>plastic<\/strong>, the undisputed star of many modern pieces from that era. Incidentally, plastic is one of the many materials that can be painted with the material paints of Rio Verde&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vernicirioverde.it\/vernice-per-legno-prodotti\/vernice-per-effetti-materici-rbxx90\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Vintage Prestige<\/strong><\/a> line. Here, the most <em>seventies<\/em> colours are black cherry, vanilla, lattementa and juniper. The<strong>combination of different textures<\/strong> is very important.
