The product penetrates the fibers and pores, <strong>reducing moisture absorption<\/strong> and providing greater protection, even against fungi and mold.<br>\nIt can be applied to <strong>all types of wood<\/strong>, including exotic species and reclaimed timber. It is also used on new woodwork and acts as a &ldquo;base coat&rdquo; before painting.<br>\nFor woods rich in tannins, there are specific primers that prevent their release.<\/p>\n<p>The primer can be <strong>transparent<\/strong> or <strong>opaque<\/strong>. In the first case, it can replace pore fillers, which are only meant to close the pores of the wood to prevent product penetration but do not offer the same protection as a primer.<br>\nIn the second case, it should definitely be preferred over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vernicirioverde.it\/cementite-composizione-come-si-usa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cementite<\/a>, which we believe has brush (with synthetic or natural bristles) or a short-nap roller.<br>\nThe ideal environmental conditions for application are between 10&deg;C and 25&deg;C, in well-ventilated areas but without direct drafts.<br>\nHere are the steps to follow:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Clean<\/strong> the surfaces to be treated, removing dust and residues;<\/li>\n<li>If the wooden item already has <strong>paint in poor condition<\/strong>, it must be completely removed by scraping and sanding it with 80&ndash;150 grit sandpaper;<\/li>\n<li>If the <strong>paint is not too worn<\/strong>, a light sanding is enough to smooth the surface;<\/li>\n<li>If the piece is <strong>new<\/strong> and in raw wood, a fine sanding (180&ndash;220 grit) along the grain will suffice;<\/li>\n<li>Remove all <strong>dust<\/strong> again;<\/li>\n<li>Take the <strong>primer<\/strong> and stir well before use, then apply it to the wood using a brush or roller as needed. This is because their technical features are now very similar to solvent-based products, but with a much lower environmental impact and reduced toxicity.<br>\nOther important factors, besides price, include the presence of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Formaldehyde\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">formaldehyde<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Styrene\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">styrene<\/a>. It is advisable to <strong>choose products that do not contain them<\/strong> since these are carcinogenic additives.<br>\nPrimers that contain <strong>UV filters<\/strong> are instead preferable.
